Using up old scraps

Today i decided to try and use up some odds and ends of patterned paper i had lying around, i only actually managed one page but hey its better than nothing and i have used paper i probably would have just thrown in the bin! so here it is, another page of alexander, im trying desperatley to catch up with his album as he was born last july and i only have 6 lo's in it so far! hoping the up and coming cyber crop might help me out with this! i am in the ships for the cyber crop and am pleased to see alot of old faces from uks are aswell, it will be good to chat to people again :)

Firstly i would like to say a massive happy birthday to the gorgeous Rebekah.

Well here it is my turn on the birthday blog hop, hopefully you will have hopped here from Deanne's Blog. I do hope everyone has been enjoying the hop so far and you have all made some delicious creations :) Seen as it's coming to the end of the hop i thought i would give you something a little more simple to do! I have attatched a layout of my nephew Alexander which i created for this project. Graduation

Well as my graduation is looming, well maybe not looming but january next year, anyway it got me thinking i should maybe scrap my sisters graduation photo! Update again

Sorry i always seem to forget to update this lol little time and too much to do may be the problem! Well a little update i suppose, i got my exam results, 1 merit and 2 high passes, i missed out on the other merits by 3 and 2% so was a little dissapointed but pleased also. I have finished my first placement for the year, i was in the breast unit in oncology, it was very emotional but very educational and i learned a hell of alot! My next placements are care of the elderly and then ITU, to say i am excited about ITU would be an understatement!

It was Jamies 3rd birthday on the 24th, i really cant beleive he is 3 already how time flies, he had a party with bouncy castle on the 25th and his new baby brother Alexander James arrived on the 26th! Weighing 8lbs 9oz he is just gorgeous, although Jamie isnt too keen and wanted to send him back!

I havent done much on the scrapping front, at the moment i am lucky if i manage a lo a month but it is better than nothing, i just dont seem to have the time with work and university although i relish the day i will have lots of time, and beleive me there will be a huge backlog of photos waiting! I am also excited to be getting a layout published in Scrapbook Trends magazine, i am hoping it will be in the next issue, which will be issue 5 october.

Anyway i dont think i really have all that much more to say at the moment, but promise to try and keep this updated a little more!

Stress Over Exam Results

Well that time is here for me again, exam result time. They where meant to be today but we have been sent an email saying they have been suspended till friday, another whole 4 days to wait, i dont think i can take the suspense :( I am not feeling overly confident at all to be honest and really wish it was just all over with! I have to say i wish someone would come up with a full proof cure for exam and results stress! Mind you i do think i am a naturally stressy person, anything i can find to stress me out to the max i will do it lol, roll on placement next monday :)

A Whole Month??

IS it really a whole month since i last update my blog, i cannot believe it, i have been so busy with university deadlines and revision for the dreaded big exam this monday that time has just flown by, heres hoping the next year and a half does the same and then i will have my RGN :) I have however managed two layouts this month from another great cleocrafts monthly kit. I am very pleased with them, the kits are always so gorgeous :D The layouts are so different it is hard to beleive that they have come from the same kit.

Vintage

I had these photos taken of the kids in december, i have wanted to scrap them since then but i was struggling as vintage really isnt my thing, but here we are, this is what iv managed to do with what i dont really consider as vintage papers, i have to say i am very pleased with them.

Visiting Castles

We recently became members of historic scotland and so every weekend we go and visit some, this weekend we went to castle campbell, stirling castle and doune castle. Jamie really likes visiting them and running up and down the large halls ans corridors. Its nice at his age that he has an interest in these things :)

Monthly kits

For years i bought expensive monthyl kits and often did one or two pages with it and wasted the rest, when i started uni i just couldnt afford these kits anymore so started the hunt for an affordable monthlt kit...............and i found a cracker! Cleocrafts doa monthly kit for less than a tenner and it is just fantastic, i love it :) i have only had one so far but i was very very impressed, it was packed with goodies and had very up to date papers, great for getting my mojo going and for challenging me :) Above is the layout i did with last months kit........still got loads left over aswell :D Must sat the thickers i used didnt come in the kit

Celebrations

Well i have been celebrating since Wednesday when i got an excellent end of year review from uni, i passed all my exams first time and achieved three merits so i am very very pleased :D i have been moved from diploma to degree route to reflect this..............so hip hip horay for me, i couldnt be happier

Cyber Cropping

Well it is the end of the UKS Cyber Crop and what a fantastic time i had, apart from having to work all day yesterday! I really enjoyed all the classes and challenges that i managed to do, so a huge thanks to Scrapbunny for all the hard work :)

I managed 9 Layouts over the weekend so i chuffed if made an indent on my stash and mountain of photos lol my favourite layout from the weekend is above :) Hope you like it as much as i do.

Scrapping photos you dont like

Why do we scrap? to preserve memories right, but what if we hate the only photo we have of that oh so important occasion which holds special sentimental value for us? Well i have this week decided that i really had to scrap that photo i hated as it is a memory that holds a key to my future, so here it is, me in my student Nurse Uniform for the first time in my life, it is only a matter of time before i have my RGN :)

Making up lost time

Las year i really didnt do much scrapping, i maybe did 19 los in the whole year, not alot i hear you say! so i am on a mission to make up lost time and get that big pile of photos from last year scrapped, so far i have done 6 layouts this year, not bad considering it is only the 20th, i have a few weeks off so i am going to make the most of it and do as much as i can :D Attatched is a layout i did last night of my neice and nephew.

I am also taking part in the UKS cybercrop, Shimelles new free class called 'this year' and also a photo a day 2009 although i am going to be doing a day a month not a photo a day, so that day will be the 25th of each month, which has got my mojo going again!

New Year - Overdue update

Well i have been told off numerous times lately for not updating my blog in such a long time so here we go..........i cant think that i have done anything interesting to tell you about though lol had a lovely christmas with my parents, sisters and the children, Jamie really enjoyed it as it was the first time he knew what was going on, he kept telling people that santa said hohoho :). Had a quiet new year, stayed in and drank cocktails with my sister and her friend.

My neice Amanda was one on the 16th of december, i dont know where the year has gone, it is strange seeing her starting to walk etc when it feels like yesterday that she was just a little newborn. My sister was also 21 on the 19th of december. She had a nice time but didnt want a party so we just went for a meal.

Uni is going very well, next thursday is my last day in first year, it has gone so fast i am overwhelmed but i have enjoyed every minute of it, even if i have been up till 3am studying some times :( I am about to finish a 10 week placement on a Rheumaology/Dermatology ward and i have loved it, i could never have imagined learning so much in such a short peroid of time, it has certainly been worth it. Not only for the fact i have found that i have a passion for Dermatology :)

Now i am back to theory at uni it means i have more time to scrap, its taken a sideline whilst i have been studying so i have alot to make up for. I have managed one or two pages which i have attatched photos of.

Well i cant think of much else to say but i promise to keep things up to date from now on!!

My freedom

I recently joined Shimelles new class My Freedom, and so fa have been keeping up well, not like last time lol , i have decorated an 8.5x11 album which i am really really happy with and have done 3 of the layouts so far, i am getting a little behind but i have the weekend including today off so i am going to try and catch up today :D you never know i might even get some of the blog prompts that come with the class prompts done............i can dream at least lol
I have however been really enjoying the class, i love the fact that someone in years to come will be able to look back at the album and see what my life was like now, what was important to me, how i viewed things, travelled, what i wanted out of life etc. Yet another faultless class from shimelle :D

Doodlebug House

Here is my attempt at altering a Doodlebug house, i did it as a treat to myself for finishing my exams which really was a great relief lol

I havent really done much else this last few weeks, have mainly been studying and going to the gym, have also been going to weight watchers and have nearly lost a stone, which i am really really pleased about, only 2 more stones to go lol

Exams and Diets

Well i thought i had better update again as i seem to be getting distraceted with university all the time and just dont have the time to come on and say what i have been doing!!!! things are mad, i have my exams in 2 weeks, i cant believe it is here already and to be honest i am far from prepared even though i have been revising i think i am just panicing lol! one of the exams is practical which to be honest i am ok about, you have to pass 6 out of 8 stations to pass the exam, the stations are handwashing; moving and handling; administration of oral medication; blood pressure; pulse; urinalysis; temperature and preparation of injections........so heres hoping :) it is still stressfull lol

As well as univeristy i have joined back at weight watchers, it really is about time i did something about my weight, it is getting a bit much now, i joined back two weeks ago and have lost 8lbs already, so i am very pleased. as well as weight watchers i have been going to the gym and i am loving it, i can really see a difference in my weight :)

Well i made a start with prompt 1 and 2 and her eis the result, i am very pleased with it, the photos are great and i think the colours work really well together, unfotunatley the journalling maybe lets it down a little as i am not veyr good at it lol.............I'm sitting here thinking about todays prompt but to be honest i am stumped lol

There's No Place Like Home

Well i have signed up for Shimelles new class and boy oh boy am i excited :D although i havent got a clue what to expect i am sure it is going to be great fun................anyone else joined? i am planning on doing the projects on my home town "Edinburgh" rather than my actual home, simply because i think Edinburgh is a magical city with so much to see and appreciate :) anyway enough rambling just thought i would let you all know what i have been up too lol

Long Awaited Update

Well where do i begin, it has been a long time since i posted and so much has happened! we had a wonderful christmas and new year and i started university in january, i am training to be a nurse and i am loving it! there is alot of work and some of it is taxing but i have been keeping up well and working hard and that showed in my anatomy exam results last week when i got 72% :), i also started a part time job in a nursing home that specialises in dementia care to help my studies and i am loving it, it is hard work but i really enjoy it, it is such a fullfilling job :)

Jamie and Amanda are both getting HUGE!!! Jamie is so funny, he talks all the time now and shouts peoples names, he is also getting to be a right little mover aswell, anytime music comes on he is dancing straight away! Amanda is also getting big, it is hard to believe how much they change so fast :)

As for scrapping..........well i think i have done a total of 3 layouts since i started univeristy lol but i have enjoyed the ones i have done and have just signed up for Shimelles new class which i am really looking forward to :)

Well i promise to update more often in future!

Well she finally arrived safe and sound last sunday (the 16th) at 1.50am :) she was 6lbs 14oz and is the most gorgeous little girl i have ever ever seen! she is so tiny and precious, love her to bits already :) her full name is Amanda Karen :)

Introducing

Well i have been a bushy bee getting lots of scrummy presents for the UKS advent swap, papmper hamper swap and lurve thread santa swap...how many swaps i hear you say....too many!!! had another lovely weekend with my nephew jamie, attached is a photo of his new habit...lying down and sleeping wherever the fancy takes him! Dressing up

Prompted by a thread on UKS i was thinking today about dressing up, i know some people absolutley loath it but i have to say i LOVE it, it is so much fun...over the years working in the soft play centre i had to dress up as a weird and wonderful array of things from a devil to an elephant and once an alien! Never am i embarrassed to go out in full dressed up galore, it is great fun and for all those prudes out there i say get those witches hats out and make a stand and make fools of yourself! you only live once afterall :D

Critical Scrappers

Over the years i have been scrapping i have come to notice that we as scrappers can be very very critical of our own work, i often browse other peoples galleries and adore the work they do but most of the time look at mine and think what a load of tosh!!! Well after getting myself into a little bit of photography i have started to like my pages more, the better the photo the better the page i think, although that is merely personal opinion! In my last post i showed you a photo of my gorgeous nephew Jamie, I had been sitting looking at this for days and i loved it so on sunday i sat for 4 hours playing with paper and ended up with a page that i personally think is one of my best pages. Some of the UKS girls have even said it is my best ever page!!! so here it is......i have learned from this that your work is always good, and not to be to critical of yourself because if you are you will never be happy and appreciative of your own work :) happy scrapping

New Shoes

Wooo Hooo i got new shoes, finally tracked down the Crocs i wanted and i love them so much!! i got them quite far from home in Keswick in the Lake District!! Im hopeing they are going to help my very sore foot which i think is a fallen arch :(

Also this week have been to art from the heart in harrogate and bought some of the scrummy new blonde moments papers, mmmmmmm they are lush!!!!

Happiness and Sadness

Well this week has been a complete and utter roller coaster of emotions.....the begining of the week saw the family have a leaving party for my uncle Tony and cousin Chris who where over visiting the family from Australia for the firt time in 18 years, we had a great time and got a family photo which is a great scrapping oportunity :D On the sad side we have the news on tuesday morning that my gran had passed away in her sleep, she has had a long battle with cancer, after being diagnose with lung cancer three years ago she went into remission but in june the cancer came back, in july my parents where called to say she was in hospital and they thought she had broken her back, my parents went to spain to be with her (thats where she lived) After a week they where told that the cancer had spread to her stomach causing a compression on her spine which had paralysed her, she was flown back to the UK and put in a hospice, after a horrible few months of pain and heartache she passed away in her sleep. RIP xx

Meandering

Well i havent posted for a while, been rather busy with this and that...unfortunatley not scrapping, i seem to have lost my mojo! however i am going to a crop next saturday so i am hoping i will be able to get something done lol. Had a great weekend with my nephew Jamie, we had a great time with some ice cream (you can see in the picture) and today we went to loch lomond, Jamie loved it, was running up to the water and shouting DUDUDU at the swans whilst pointing at them, have to say the swans didnt look highly impressed!

I have been scrapping like made the last few days, i have been doing classes, scraplifting, doing challenges etc etc. and i have had a ball, i am really pleased with everything i have done and you can see it all in my ukscrappers gallery if you wish...my favourite however is a scraplift of a page by Gertie on Ukscrappers, i have to give HUGE shout out for Gertie as she is a really talented scrapper and i adore her work...so a big WOOPWOOP for Gertie :) Attached is a pic of the page i scraplifted from her :)

With the arrival of the wonderful classes in this weeks UkScrappers Summer Cyber Crop i decided that for a change i should scrap a picture of myself, and my lord am i pleased with the results, i mean i relaly love the page. it isnt very often that i admire my own work but i am very happy with this :) I do wonder if i should scrap more about myself for the future when i look back or for when i am not here anymore for my family to look back on and get to know me through my work.....does that sound odd?? lol

Stash Buying

Yes AGAIN! i have been stash buying, there was nothing in particular i wanted to si just bought whatever took my fancy lol here are some pictures of what i bought......how do you purchase your stash? are you strict or do you just buy buy buy..let me know lol i only spent £30 which i thought was good for what i got as i also bought a blonde moments christmas papers pack aswell which was £5!!! bargain galore lol

My Nephews First Birthday

Last tuesday (24th) my nephew was one, i cant believe it, it feels like only yesterday i was sitting in the delivery room with my sister and then holding her hand when she was in theatre having forceps, he has grown so much and is more gorgeous than ever.......i bet all the birthdays will fly in. he seemed to enjoy his birthday party although i dont think he really knew what was going on lol the difference in him since her was born is immense as you can see!

Well i have been a busy bee working, trying to scrap and celebrating my excellent exam results, i got 6 A's!!!!! here is a pic of my latest scrapbook page, i used pencil lines sketch 42 for think inspiration.....i havent been scrapping alot recently as my granma is very ill so i have been to worried about her to concentrate so i am pleased that i managed to sit for an hour or so tonight and take my mind off things :)
